Mark Brunner has been involved with publishing and God’s Word for over thirty years. Beginning his publishing career fresh out of Marquette University in 1975 with Ideals Publishing House, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mark began a career that has spanned several decades in publishing and inspirational writing.
Ideals publications were known as America’s “most wholesome and beautiful” publications and Mark worked in the editorial department as both the Editor of Ideals and Country Scene magazines until leaving Ideals in the mid-1980’s. While at Ideals he wrote a number of books including Wings Upon the Heavens and Until The Race Is Won.
After a brief stint with Bolens Corporation and an introduction into the world of marketing and advertising, Mark came back to his publishing roots in 1988 when he joined the staff of Christian publisher, Northwestern Publishing House, as Director of Product Development. It was here that he was introduced to the numerous devotional publications published by NPH and where he first became interested in the devotional writing form. Eventually he became the Vice President of Marketing and was instrumental in the development of several new product lines including the Christians In Crisis series and Lutheran Parent magazine.
In 1996 Brunner was called by Christian Life Resources to become its Advancement Director. It was here that he developed an appreciation for the many critical life issues that face Christians today and it was also at this time that the first online devotions, Today In God’s Word, were developed. CLR was also the platform from which he eventually received his training as a Staff Minister in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
Today Mark is the President of This Passing Day, Inc. devoting much of his time to his writing and radio ministry as well as to non-profit work with a Citizen Advocacy program in nearby West Bend, Wisconsin. Mark and his wife Holly live near Kewaskum in a little valley situated in the Kettle Moraine hills called Beech Springs. They have four children: Sarah, Rachel, Daniel and Hannah.
